POSITION PURPOSE:
The primary function of the Health Informatics Analyst (HIA) is to champion the outpatient clinics' electronic health record (EHR) application and other clinic based systems, train and provide technical support to the clinic support staff and providers, resolve process issues with the EHR, develop and streamline reporting, and promote enhanced system functionality including development, implementation and continuation of outpatient clinical quality programs.
This position is part of a team-based approach in providing patient-centered care.
The incumbent understands the clinical support needs from the health information system (HIS), and has the technical knowledge to leverage the EHR to meet clinic requirements, including making modifications to the software.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
The nature of this position is instrumental in the day to day coordination and maintenance of the health information technology.
The incumbent will analyze the data to find more effective ways to deliver care by continuous support, troubleshooting and identifying opportunities for clinical information system improvements.
The incumbent will work closely with SPH clinic(s) staff and providers, striving to resolve identified issues within the SPH Clinics software systems by providing the most effective processes, promote enhanced system functionality, and identify opportunities for clinical health system improvements.
Will also guide processes and training to ensure success in quality programs.
This position reports to the Director of Health Information Systems.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND
Experience:
An associates degree in information systems is Required.
In lieu of a degree, must have five years of relevant work experience in the Informatics field.
Five years recent clinical experience in a clinic environment preferred; alternate direct patient care and clinical applications experience considered.
Practical knowledge and experience of PC business software including word processing, spreadsheets, and Outlook is Required.
Knowledge of computer network operations with a minimum of three years of experience working in a computerized clinical system or other information systems environment is highly Preferred.
Experience with the EPIC system is highly Preferred.
Project management experience is helpful.
Demonstrated teaching skills Preferred.
Must be able to work independently.
Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
High attention to detail and producing quality work is essential for this position.
Must be well organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment and keep track of multiple tasks and projects.
Must have a technical aptitude of computer systems.
Must demonstrate accurate keyboarding and data entry skills.
